Something new in worship this week…
Come check it out!
Pastor Kirk has begun using the first Sunday of each month, as we gather ’round the Communion Table, to interview members of our Church about their personal journeys of faith. Some may call it faith stories, others call them testimonies. Whatever you call them, this is a chance to learn from each other as we share our walks with God, our own journeys of faith, our desire to trust in Jesus, to follow Him, and to let go and let God.
Join us in the sanctuary for worship this Sunday morning at 8:45 for the traditional service or 10:45 for the contemporary service to learn from the first of these in-person conversations when Pastor Kirk interviews Funmi Abraham. A recorded version will be available in our online service which you can check out on Sunday morning.
If you missed the baby dedication of Eden Abraham at the contemporary service on September 19, enjoy this video recap of the celebration!
UPDATE! We are extending the deadline to October 31 for donations to benefit Afghan refugees. Nearly all Afghan families are arriving with only the clothes on their backs, so needs are immense. Donations of clothing (including undergarments) for adults and children, hygiene items as well as baby care items are requested. They are currently prioritizing the need for warm winter clothing. Drop off your new or gently used donations in Fellowship Hall during church office hours: Monday through Thursday, 10 am-4 pm.
Upcoming opportunities for WEB
Thanksgiving Food Baskets
The Waunakee Ecumenical Board is sponsoring their annual Thanksgiving food basket distribution to needy families in Waunakee. Your family is invited to help deliver baskets of Thanksgiving dinner foods on Saturday, November 20th.
Deliveries will begin at about 9:00 am from the side of St John’s School enter at 303 South St. Use the driveway between the Elementary School and St John’s Church. Volunteers will put Thanksgiving food baskets in your vehicle and provide directions for delivery. Whether you have 30 or 90 minutes, your help is appreciated! This is a great family service project for the Thanksgiving Holiday. For more information call Natalie Dresen at 849-9742.
All Faith Thanksgiving Service Posponed
Sorry, there is no combined Thanksgiving Service this year due to remnants of Covid.
Christmas Giving Trees
This year, WEB is supporting over 100 families through this annual program sponsored by the Waunakee Ecumenical Board, a partnership of our local churches, businesses, schools, and social workers working together to benefit our community.
Again this year due to COVID wrapped Christmas Gifts cannot be distributed to families in need. WEB will be taking donations toward Christmas presents in the form of Gift Cards for the children in need this year. Approximately 300 children will be receiving gift cards this year!

Stephen Ministry at FPC: Providing God’s Care to Hurting People
What is this ministry about?
Extensively trained and supervised Stephen Minister Caregivers provide high-quality, one-on-one confidential Christian care to anyone in need. They provide weekly visits and ongoing support as long as the care receiver needs. Should the care receiver have needs that are beyond the scope of a Stephen Minister Caregiver, they are referred to professional caregivers.
What kind of care is offered from a Stephen Minister?
- CRISIS CARE – For people experiencing change(s) that significantly challenge their ability to cope.
- FOLLOW-UP CARE – After the crisis event.
- CHRONIC CARE – For a person whose situation is unlikely to change.
- PREVENTIVE CARE – Providing care before a crisis occurs.
- SUPPORTIVE CARE – Care for the caregiver.
How can I find out more about this ministry?
Call the church office at 608-949-9445, or reach out to a pastor or deacon. Stephen Minister Caregivers don’t replace the care of pastors and deacons. They carry it a step further.
