Sam Robinson serving as Part-Time Worship and Music Coordinator
From Erik Cushman, Worship and Music Elder
I am very pleased to announce that Mr. Sam Robinson has accepted the position of Part-Time Worship and Music Coordinator. Many of you have known Sam for years and know what a blessing he has been to our church. With Sam’s extensive teaching background and his years of connecting with musicians in the Madison area and beyond, FPC can anticipate some exciting times ahead. What I like so much about Sam is his patience, his thoughtfulness, and his desire to always create a meaningful worship experience. I would expect, in the months and years ahead, that our church will enjoy many types of musical genres: gospel, contemporary, traditional, Caribbean, etc. As I explained to Session the other night, “How awesome would it be to come to church, whether you attend the first or second service and know that you may hear a song you have never heard before…sung by someone you have never met…and being so meaningful and spiritual.” Please join me in welcoming Sam to this role and be ready to enjoy God’s message through song!

Introducing the Interim Pastor Search Committee
To our wonderful FPC family –
We are excited to introduce ourselves and update you on FPC’s Interim Pastor Search Committee!
Five church members are on our committee to find our new Interim Pastor: Brice Wallace will chair the committee; Clerk of Session/Elder Lolly Lawrence will be the secretary and organizer extraordinaire; Doug Brown will supply perspective as the Personnel Elder; Christa Schmeelk, our Director of Family Ministry, will represent FPC staff; and Joel Lewis will represent the FPC congregation at large. We encourage all of you to pray for us and for wisdom as FPC launches into our next phase as a congregation.
The next step for the committee is to coordinate with a representative from the John Knox Presbytery. This person will guide us through the steps of the process–which honestly sounds a little bit like a dating service. 😊 We will fill out something online that lets potential Interim Pastors know what FPC needs, and in turn, they will fill out something online that lets our committee know what they have to offer. We are also open to suggestions from those of you who know of any potential PC(USA) ordained Interim Pastors, so feel free to send us names if you have any contacts!
We will continue to update you, and please know that you can reach out to any of us with questions as well.
God, be with our Church and bring us our next shepherd of the flock. Prepare them and prepare us, in Jesus name, Amen!
With love,
Doug Brown
Lolly Lawrence
Joel Lewis
Christa Schmeelk
Brice Wallace

Video Devotional: The Empty Tomb
The empty tomb is foundational to the Christian faith. Yet, when reading the four Gospel accounts of the empty tomb on Easter morning, it’s confusing that the Gospel accounts tell the same story, but with slightly different facts. Why is that? Do these differences actually speak to the truth of the Gospel accounts? Find out in this video devotional from Rev. Jeff Quinto, FPC member and Executive Director of The Bethel Series.

Stephen Ministry at FPC: Providing God’s Care to Hurting People
What is this ministry about?
Extensively trained and supervised Stephen Minister Caregivers provide high-quality, one-on-one confidential Christian care to anyone in need. They provide weekly visits and ongoing support as long as the care receiver needs. Should the care receiver have needs that are beyond the scope of a Stephen Minister Caregiver, they are referred to professional caregivers.
What kind of care is offered from a Stephen Minister?
- CRISIS CARE – For people experiencing change(s) that significantly challenge their ability to cope.
- FOLLOW-UP CARE – After the crisis event.
- CHRONIC CARE – For a person whose situation is unlikely to change.
- PREVENTIVE CARE – Providing care before a crisis occurs.
- SUPPORTIVE CARE – Care for the caregiver.
How can I find out more about this ministry?
Call the church office at 608-949-9445, or reach out to a pastor or deacon. Stephen Minister Caregivers don’t replace the care of pastors and deacons. They carry it a step further.
