Kirk came to FPC in December of 1990 as the (then) solo pastor and only full-time staff member. The church had about 140 members then. Since that time, it has grown to nearly 800. Kirk graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in History, then earned his Master of Divinity degree at Princeton Seminary. His name means “Church.” His wife’s name is “Faith.” He says it seems like God had a plan. Faith is 100% Greek. Their dating life, he notes, mirrored the movie, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.”
The truths of the Christian faith first became real to Kirk when he was a junior in high school, through a series of evening Bible studies in his coach’s living room. “I rejoiced in the discovery that my way through this life would not be a maze but a Man, the God-Man Jesus.” Kirk and Faith are proud parents of Steven and Walker, and grandparents of Penelope and Lydia. Kirk is recently retired from more than 25 years of service as a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Lori has been at FPC for 15 wonderful years, and currently serves as the Director of Children and Family Ministries. Years prior at FPC, she taught Sunday School and directed VBS (Vacation Bible School) for 10 years. Her goal is to teach kids to know that God is good and is always there for them. (And of course have fun while learning.)
Lori has a degree from UW-LaCrosse in Human Resource Management and Business and was the HR Director for The University Book Store in Madison and Target Janesville prior to having children. She was born and raised in Janesville. She has been married to her husband, Kevin, for 25 fun years, and they have 2 amazing children; Alec (21) and Chez (18). She enjoys the outdoors and a good book, boating, and playing any and all games. She thinks she’s a grown kid, and that’s one of the reasons God chose her to serve in Children’s Ministry. She’s so grateful He did!
